We warmly welcome Michael A. Johnson to the EPE Advisory Board.
Michael is a Company Director and Lawyer with deep expertise in economic and political affairs across the Asia-Pacific region. He served as a three-term Member of the Australian Parliament (2001–2010), where he was a strong voice on Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Trade Policy. During his time in Parliament, he represented Australia on numerous international forums and witnessed first hand the outstanding work of the Australian Defence Forces in the Middle East. Michael led Australian Parliamentary Delegations to the United Nations’ to oversee the supervision of the 2003 Cambodian and 2008 Mongolian elections. Today, he continues his active commitment to regional development as Chairman of the Advisory Board for PNG Elevators, Advisory Board Member of Queensland-based defence manufacturer Black Sky Industries, Founder & Executive Chairman of the East Coast Forum , and Board Member of the Australia-Vietnam Business Council. He holds Law and International Relations degrees from both Queensland and Cambridge Universities.
As EPE expands its capability offerings and capacity building efforts supporting Australian national security and our international partners, Michael brings his 25 years of business, legal & government experience & networks across Australia, Asia & the Pacific to the Advisory Board — strongly complementing the strategic expertise already provided by Adam Findlay and Rod West.
We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Andrew Garth, a founding member of the EPE Advisory Board, who is stepping down to focus on the growth of his business, the Defence Industry Advisory Service (DIAS). Andrew has made a significant and formative contribution to EPE and will continue to be a valued voice on government policy.
