Maintenance Workshop Supervisor / Field Service Representative

About the role

Primary role is to manage the EPE Through Life Support Maintenance Department, workshop and co-ordinate Through Life Support services in support of EPE customers. Secondary role is to provide FSR maintenance, repair, and training services in support of EPE customers.  

The Maintenance Workshop Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the inspection, maintenance, repair, and calibration of complex electronic systems used by government and commercial customers. This role ensures that all equipment—such as robotic systems, sensors, UAVs/UGVs and electronic warfare assets—are maintained to operational readiness in accordance with technical standards, safety regulations, and mission requirements. 

The supervisor manages a team of FSR technicians, providing technical guidance, task allocation, and performance oversight while fostering a disciplined, safety-focused work environment. They are accountable for troubleshooting advanced electronic faults, approving repair actions, and ensuring compliance with relevant military procedures, quality systems, and documentation requirements. 

In addition, the role involves resource planning, including tools, test equipment, spare parts, and workload prioritisation to meet operational deadlines. The supervisor liaises with OEMs, engineering authorities, logistics personnel, and EPE management to report equipment status, support continuous improvement, and contribute to capability sustainment. 

Key responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Maintenance Workshop Management: 

    • Manage/schedule and direct the warranty, preventative and corrective maintenance and repair activities of the EPE FSRs 
    • Forecast and undertake maintenance of all EPE equipment both on site at the EPE Brisbane office and off site at customer locations 
    • Develop and manage EPE’s repair parts stock holdings 
    • Mange the CMMS (FiiX) to ensure accurate and timely technical reporting to all customers as it relates to maintenance activities 
    • Prepare quotes to customers for equipment repair, maintenance, and freight using Sugar CRM. Review TLS quotes developed by TLS FSRs and Internal Sales Administrators prior to release for accuracy. 
    • Ensure all TLS opportunities are uploaded into Sugar CRM and are kept up to date on a Quarterly basis 
    • Primary POC for TLS to maintain and build long-term relationships with customers and OEMs 
    • Manage the delivery of any TLS/Maintenance activities for EPE projects  
  • Through Life Support Training and Documentation Management:

    • Maintain regular contact and liaise closely with OEM representatives to manage expectations, maintain accurate technical records including software/firmware upgrades, technical bulletins, etc 
    • Coordinate OEM and/or internal equipment training for the maintenance team, maintain a record of OEM maintenance certificates/qualifications
    • Lead in the design, develop and delivery oTraif maintenance training packages for maintenance and repair of EPE equipment
    • Maintain currency in maintenance procedures and processes required for the range of EPE supplied equipment
  • Through Life Support Governance Requirements: 

    • Delegate for TLS Corporate Traveller, TLS leave, authorised reviewer and signatory for all TLS documents 
    • Undertake EPE QMS Through Life Support documentation updates as required (minimum annually) 
    • Maintain qualifications and licensing required to enable maintenance operations to be carried out within state and national guidelines 
    • Assist, as required, to undertake the process of equipment testing and calibration prior to customer despatch in conjunction with Capability Mangers, Project Managers, and the Logistics Administrator 
    • Ensure all Support and Test Equipment calibration requirements and schedules are adhered to (inc GFE supplied items)  
    • Ensure equipment and maintenance activities comply with all regulatory requirements (e.g. radiation, EESS, ACMA) 
    • Responsibility for management of Australian Army OJT trainees (as required) 
    • Support EPE at conferences, shows, equipment demonstrations and trials as required  
    • Carry out all activities in accordance with the EPE Values Statement, Quality Management System, Work Health and Safety Management System, Company and Personnel Policies, Security Policies and Procedures and the ADF Technical Regulatory Framework 

Essential Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised qualification in electronics or communications 
  • Be an Australian Citizen with a checkable background for security purposes 
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a AGSVA security clearance to a minimum of NV1 
  • Hold and maintain a current Passport 
  • Hold a Queensland drivers licence 
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment  

Desirable

  • Certificate III or IV in Electronics and Communications  
  • Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering 
  • HRWS Licence (Forklift) 
  • EIT (Test and Tag) 
  • Radiation use licence/Radiation Training  
  • Working at Heights 
  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) Certification (Drone) 

Work Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of maintenance services for electronics or communications equipment 
  • First Responder and/or Military experience (desirable) 
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience   
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite 
  • Design, development and delivery of training packages (desirable) 

Personal Qualities and Behavioural Traits

  • Ability to work autonomously under supervision or as part of a team 
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting writing and interaction with stakeholders 
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines as required 
  • Willingness to travel regularly 

Role Tasks and Duties

  • Computer Use 
  • Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time 
  • Standing for long periods and may include regular lifting up to 15kg 
  • Work in isolation from other staff (remote supervision) 
  • Distance walking (ie. Large building or inter-building transit) 
  • Moving product which requires bending, squatting, reaching, push/pull 
  • Ability to traverse up and down at least two flights of stairs 
  • Ability to traverse up and down a step ladder 
  • Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Work in a customer service environment 
  • Will require working in Warehouse environment Lifting Boxes  
  • Will include getting Stores Equipment ready for EPE Activities 
  • Must be willing to travel interstate/overseas when needed 
  • This may include the requirement to provide out of hours support for training and deployments on an Ad-Hoc basis
