Who We Are

EPE’s mission is to enable and protect in harmful environments.

We provide Force Protection, CBRN defence (CBRND) and Counter IED solutions and support to Defence Forces, Law Enforcement, and other government agencies. Based in Australia, we have a dedicated office in New Zealand.

In 2020, we were honoured with the NZDF Minister for Defence Award for Excellence, and today we continue to expand with strong operations across the U.S., Europe and Southeast Asia.

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly organised, strategically-minded General Manager to set the direction for EPE New Zealand. It’s an opportunity to make your mark within a client-centred, entrepreneurial, and can-do culture.

This leadership role will see you managing a small dynamic team that work to supply defence and law enforcement with the technology they need to operate safely in harmful environments. You’ll employ a range of skillsets, from hands-on office and facilities management, through to setting business goals and strategy.

We’re looking for someone with a strong business development skillset, and a keen eye on what’s on the horizon in the New Zealand defence and protection environment. You’ll be a natural relationship builder, identifying new areas of business potential, and forecasting and tracking pipeline opportunities.

Team management is a key part of the role. With a great existing team culture, we want to ensure all staff feel supported to use their skills in the best way possible, and enjoy coming to work. We’re looking for a great communicator, both within the team and in contributing to bid and tender processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations, assigning performance goals, and assuring their completion, while accomplishing business development goals.
  • Manage and oversee the EPE NZ staff, providing tasking, support, guidance, performance management, NZ recruitment, WHS, and conflict resolution.
  • Manage facilities, assets, budgets, and business strategy.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, and engaging with new areas of business potential.
  • Forecasting, developing, and tracking sales leads for existing and new product lines.
  • Overseeing customer quotes using Sugar CRM.
  • Working with Capability Managers to understand new equipment lines and capabilities
  • Represent EPE at conferences, shows, and equipment demonstrations and trials as required.
  • Fulfil the role of Facility Security Officer (FSO)
  • Set and maintain a positive, professional, and supportive workplace culture.

Qualifications:

  • Business, Management and/or Project Management qualifications are desirable

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a managerial role.
  • Minimum 5 years NZDF and/or first responder operational experience or minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial environment working with NZDF and First Responder agencies .
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation, including executive.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time whilst paying strict attention to detail
  • Experience in delivering customer-focused solutions based on customer needs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time whilst paying strict attention to detail.
  • High level of proficiency with the MS office suite.
  • Experience in updating and reporting from CRM software.

Desirable:

  • Commercial experience in generating revenue for defence, first responders and/or other industries (including prospecting, qualifying, and negotiating commercial sales in a business to government environment) advantageous

To be eligible for this position, you must be a New Zealand citizen capable of obtaining SECRET security clearance. You must also have the ability to travel nationwide or overseas as required.
