Victoria Police Bomb Response Unit was called yesterday to a suspicious device in a park in Melbourne’s north after its discovery led to the suspension of a train line.  The device was found at Kelvin Thomson Park off Cleve Road in Pascoe Vale about 8.30am on Thursday.  The Craigieburn rail line was shut down and a local bike path closed as the police Bomb Response Unit investigated.

The Bomb Response Unit used an Unmanned Ground Vehicle to transport the suspected pipe bomb from beneath the Tullamarine Freeway.  It was placed in a safe position where it was  inspected by a Bomb Technician wearing the EOD9 Bomb Suit.  It was placed beneath sandbags and safely disposed of.
